In the Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology program, you work with biochemical processes. You gain basic knowledge about the chemistry behind the energy metabolism of living organisms, and you learn how to translate this knowledge into practical application in society and companies. For example, you may work with the development of new foods, the purification and utilization of wastewater, medicine and biofuels.
The education includes subjects such as biochemistry, microbiology, chemistry, cell biology, mathematics and statistics, as well as a number of basic engineering courses where you learn to design and control biological processes.

During the 3½ years of the program, you will gradually build your theoretical knowledge within biotechnology and be introduced to real-world issues. The Bachelor of Engineering degree program in Biotechnology also includes a one-semester internship (5th semester), which may be paid.
