The flexible MSc in Mechanical Engineering allows you to study part-time while working in a paid engineering position. Over 4 years, you combine part-time studies with paid, relevant employment (typically 25 hours per week) gaining both academic insight and professional hands-on experience.

You will learn to design and optimise mechanical systems that combine classical mechanics with modern technologies such as AI, advanced simulation, robotics, and sustainable manufacturing. The programme is highly flexible and lets you tailor your studies to align with your professional role. Academic projects can often be integrated with your job, strengthening your learning and real-world impact.

You can choose from eight carefully designed specialisations – all of them fine-tuned to reflect the latest technological developments and created in close collaboration with industry:

  • Renewable Energy
  • Thermo/Fluid Dynamics
  • Robot Technology
  • Dynamics
  • Solid Mechanics
  • Materials
  • Mechanical Engineering Design
  • Manufacturing

You will work closely with researchers, fellow students, and industry partners on practical, project-based assignments. A dedicated academic supervisor will support your academic progression throughout the programme.

Career

The flexible MSc equips you for roles in innovation, product development, and R&D in sectors such as robotics, green energy, advanced manufacturing, and healthcare technology. Most graduates are offered full-time positions at their workplace after completing the programme. Others pursue PhDs or leadership roles in engineering companies.
