In the Work-Integrated Master’s degree in Statistics at Aarhus University, you study part-time while working part-time in a company or organisation. This allows you to apply statistical methods, modelling, and data analysis directly to real-world challenges. After the 4-year programme, you graduate with both substantial work experience and a high-quality master’s degree.

The programme builds a strong foundation in probability, statistical theory, and applied methods. You tailor your studies through elective courses and projects, and specialise in one of three areas:

  • Applied Statistics
  • Theoretical Statistics
  • Probability Theory

Teaching is research-driven and combines lectures with practical exercises. In your final semester, you complete a master’s thesis under supervision from a Department of Mathematics professor and may contribute to ongoing research projects. The learning environment is informal and collaborative, encouraging independent thinking and close interaction with faculty.

Career

Graduates are highly sought after in pharmaceuticals, finance, telecommunications, insurance, and research. Typical roles include data analyst, actuary, clinical trial planner, and academic researcher. Many continue into PhD programmes or secure full-time employment with their work-integrated employer.
