The Bachelor's degree in Aesthetics and Culture is about the connection between aesthetic expressions, cultural phenomena and the surrounding society. For example, you can learn about sound art, climate literature, festival culture, artificial intelligence in visual culture, lifestyle, art in public housing and cultural democracy.

In the program we deal with Aesthetics and Culture from a historical, theoretical, analytical and practical perspective. As a student, you examine current art and culture using aesthetic, media and cultural theories. You gain insight into aesthetic and cultural meaning-making and the cultural political conditions of art institutions. You learn to use different research methods critically and creatively and become good at collaborating and communicating. Through this, you build skills to act productively and professionally in cultural life broadly understood.

Everyday life at Aesthetics and Culture

The teaching consists of lectures, exercises, student presentations and group work. You will spend a lot of time in changing study groups, which form the framework for analytical and practice-based research. The teaching at Aesthetics and Culture takes place in close contact with a wide range of actors in the arts and cultural life – both through mutual visits and concrete collaborative projects.

Career opportunities

A degree in Aesthetics and Culture gives you job opportunities in areas such as cultural communication, project management, curation, teaching and entrepreneurship. This can be at cultural institutions such as museums, cultural centers, theaters and libraries, at festivals, in the music industry or in the media and publishing world.
