In the Bachelor's degree program in Politics and Economics, you learn to analyze and understand social conditions, and you gain in-depth knowledge of the connection between economics and politics.

Social conditions and economic issues The degree gives you strong interdisciplinary skills that will enable you to shape the development of the society of the future. The social model we have in Denmark and in a number of other highly developed democracies means that reforms and solutions must be both economically and politically sustainable if they are to make a real and positive difference. The degree in Politics and Economics is unique in that it combines exactly the two strong and sought-after professional disciplines, politics and economics. You will learn much more about economics than those who study political science, and much more about politics and social relations than those who study economics. Politics and Economics is still a relatively young degree (established in 2014), but the graduates who have already graduated have been employed in the Ministry of Finance and in large private consulting firms, among other places. You should expect that Politics and Economics is a demanding degree with high professional requirements. Because economics occupies a large part of the degree, there are particularly high demands on your abilities in mathematics. Brush-up courses in mathematics will be held for new students in Economics and Politics.
Everyday life in politics and economics
In Politics and Economics, teaching is based on lectures, reading group work and group lessons, where you participate in discussions, solve assignments and give presentations to the lecturers and your fellow students. You will be taught by some of the country's most talented economists and political scientists. Most students in Politics and Economics spend a lot of time at the university, and the program is characterized by a very strong academic and social community. In the first years of the program, you will learn about the basic concepts and theories within political science (the study of politics) and economics. In the last years of the program, you will be introduced to subjects that build bridges between the two disciplines. Teaching takes place at the Department of Political Science and the Department of Economics, respectively, and in some cases together with students who are studying either Political Science or Economics.
Career opportunities
As a bachelor's degree holder in Politics and Economics, you have both a strong and broad academic foundation, and the program gives you access to continue your studies in a number of master's programs. If you choose to study your master's program at the Department of Economics, you can receive the title Cand.oecon. with a specialization in Politics and Economics. The program can thus provide you with good job opportunities within both the public and private sectors. In the public sector, there is the opportunity to work for ministries, regions and municipalities, etc. In the private sector, you will be able to work as a consultant or in an interest organization. You will also be able to work for large, international organizations such as the World Bank and the EU Commission.
