As a dental hygienist, you focus on people's health, living conditions and lifestyle. You work with people of all ages so that they can maintain healthy teeth throughout their lives.

Everyday life at the Dental Hygienist Training Program
The teaching at the Dental Hygiene Program is based on lectures, practical exercises at the school's clinic and independent work. You focus on areas such as health promotion, health education, communication, prevention and clinical work, where you practice various dental treatments. You learn to collaborate with, among others, dentists, teachers, health nurses and educators, and you study natural sciences, humanities, social sciences and health sciences.

Internship and exchange
During the course of the training, you will do an internship as a dental hygienist. The majority of the internship takes place at the school's own clinics. During the internship, you will learn to examine teeth and mouths, take X-rays, make diagnoses, administer anesthesia, clean teeth and polish fillings. It can therefore be an advantage if you are also happy to use your hands for practical treatments. This external part of the internship takes place at internship sites distributed throughout the country. Transport and accommodation are at your own expense. There are also opportunities to get internships in the Nordic countries and selected partners abroad.

Career opportunities
As a professional bachelor in Dentistry, you will be authorized. You can open your own clinic, and you can become part of a practice community with a dental care team. You can also work within municipal dentistry, including community dentistry, specialized dentistry, with specialized dentists or at dental companies. After two years of practice, you can further your education through diploma and master's programs. You also have the opportunity to apply for the Health Sciences Master's program.
