The department of Education and Psychology - Guidance and Psychological Counseling Division -, Faculty of Arts, Alasmarya Islamic University offers educational programs in the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Division. The program has 133 credits, 53 courses, and a minimum of 8 semesters of study for graduation, 25 batches of students have been enrolled in the program up to this year.

The importance of the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling lies in preparing psychological and educational cadres. These cadres are capable of contributing in building society and comprehensive development. All these by giving the graduate educational and psychological competence in light of contemporary trends and current challenges that our current society is witnessing. This is carried out in accordance with quality standards and academic accreditation. It also seeks to achieve excellence and sophistication in preparing educational and psychological graduates with distinction, and as researchers in light of the requirements of the times locally and globally through constantly renewed academic and research programs. That is in accordance with what is new and in line with the times.

The objectives of the Guidance and Psychological Counseling Division are as follows:
1- Providing the student with the scientific method to solve various problems.
2- Commitment to professional work ethics.
3- The ability to employ his academic, professional and specialized skills.
4- Providing students with experience in order to conduct purposeful research in the field of education and psychology.
5- Analysis of the concept of the psychological counselor, its preparation programs, and modern trends in its preparation.
6- Providing the student with the educational and psychological principles and laws that govern behavior.
7- Preparing psychologists, educators, and psychological counselors who are scientifically and practically qualified to work in community institutions related to the correctional, counseling, and therapeutic aspects.

The professional fields in which a graduate of psychological guidance and counseling can be employed are various schools and universities as a psychologist. Mental health centers, child- care centers, elderly care centers, psychological clinics, the prison service, counseling of addicts, and other services that serve the community. The psychological counselor can also identify the psychological and educational problems of each person. Groups of society and preparing counseling programs to treat them. It can also cooperate with a psychiatrist to guide patients inside psychiatric hospitals. It also contributes to providing counseling programs for families to raise awareness of how to deal with adolescents.
