The Chemistry Department is one of the most vital and prominent scientific departments in the college. Established in the academic year 1991/1992, the department offers a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. It also includes a postgraduate program (Master’s) in Chemistry, which commenced in 2018. The postgraduate studies involve at least two semesters of preparatory coursework followed by a research phase to write the thesis after the research topic is approved by the General Authority for Scientific Research.
The department has graduated numerous cohorts, producing hundreds of alumni who have contributed to various sectors within the community. Currently, the department hosts many students across different academic years. It admits students with intermediate educational qualifications, including graduates from specialized secondary schools or holders of general secondary education certificates. The postgraduate program also welcomes university graduates holding a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry to pursue a Master’s degree.
Program Objectives:
The department aims to achieve the following goals:
1. Utilize advanced technologies and modern teaching strategies to develop and train scientific competencies in chemistry and its applications.
2. Graduate chemistry specialists capable of meeting societal needs in this field.
3. Encourage students to engage in scientific research to open new horizons of knowledge.
4. Provide specialized consultancy services in diverse fields of chemistry and its applications.
5. Organize scientific seminars and conferences to keep pace with scientific advancements.
6. Support and nurture talented and outstanding graduates of the program.
7. Instill teamwork values in students.
8. Enhance students’ abilities and skills for lifelong learning, communication, and collaboration.
9. Impart ethical research practices to students.
