This program at the University of Jordan is part of the University's endeavor, especially the Faculty of Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II for International Studies to keep abreast of the developments in the field of International Relations, specifically the field of diplomatic studies, as this specific area has begun to develop impressively in many prestigious universities, whether in Jordanian or foreign. This program opens the door to the region, especially in Jordan to specialize in the field of International Relations and Diplomatic and Consular Studies.

 
The Program of Diplomatic Studies in the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy aims to provide a specialization in diplomatic studies in the fields and needs of political institutions and graduates those who have knowledge in the fields of International Relations, foreign policy, international law and diplomatic studies.

 
The program focuses on the development of skills and knowledge based on the means of managing international and diplomatic relations, examines the nature of conflicts in the contemporary world, and the effectiveness of previous and current international efforts to resolve them in order to make recommendations for guiding future policies and practices. The program is linked to the faculty’s Conflict Resolution program, due to the relationship between these two areas of study.

To become an international hub that is deeply entrenched in the Arab-sphere, which equips students with the necessary knowledge and proficiencies to tackle the dynamics of local diplomacy and international relations.  Moreover, contribute to the management of international affairs in theory and practice through productive scientific contributions that uphold international excellence.

    To be devoted to comprehensive knowledge in the field of Diplomacy and equip students with vital knowledge and skills in various contemporary diplomacy dimensions, suitable for domestic and international conduct. Through cultivating profound comprehension to environmental forces influencing international relations, and producing world-class scholarly contribution with emphasis on interdisciplinary, the program generates knowledgeable student outcomes in the field of diplomacy who become diplomats, analysts, policymakers, and international affairs specialists.​


    Program Aims:


    1. To acquire specialized and up-to-date knowledge in key concepts, theory, and models in the field of Diplomacy.
    2. To acquire relevant skills that are vital in the field of Diplomacy including negotiation, communication, and cultural tolerance.
    3. To acquire critical analysis skills necessary to analyze complex issues and occurrences in Diplomacy.
    4. To equip students for careers in Diplomacy, Security, NGOs, International Organizations, Academia, and related fields.
    5. To commit to diversity and international bridging through navigating cultural components such as values, norms, beliefs, ethics and language to successfully navigate regional and international affairs and institutions.
    6. To align with the emerging trends and evolving nature of Diplomacy in a dynamic global environment through adaptability and innovation and foster a strong sense of ethics to preserve international values in diplomatic conducts.

A.    Bachelor in any field of knowledge

Please note that applicants who have graduated from an English-speaking country are exempt from the English exam requirement.

Required Documents:

After checking your eligibility for the program, your electronic application at the next step must include the following documents compiled into a single PDF file (with a size of less than 6 MB):


1.  A copy of the General Secondary Certificate (high school or Tawjihi).

2.  A copy of the bachelor's degree certificate is required for master's students. For doctoral students, a copy of the master's degree certificate with a rating of at least 'Good' is required.

3.  Transcripts for all academic years of the bachelor's degree for master's students, and transcripts for all academic years of both the bachelor's and master's degree for doctoral students.

4. The grading system used by the student's university (for graduates of non-Jordanian universities).

5. A personal photograph.

6.  A copy of the passport.
