The study began in the academic year 2009/2010 for the Kingdom's need for this important specialization as a large number of archaeological sites dating back to different historical periods are subjected to damage and the threat of natural and human factors. The department aims to qualify students to work in the restoration and maintenance of transferred artifacts, as well as the management and maintenance of archaeological and cultural sites.

The department provides a bachelor's degree in the field of cultural resources management and maintenance. The department adopts interdisciplinary approach and benefits from many specializations at the university. The department focuses on the use of modern information systems, as well as the documentation, presentation, analysis, planning and management of cultural resources. Practical and applied laboratory studies as basic tools help in providing and teaching this specialization.
