Background to the program and subject area:


The Conflict Resolution Program is located in the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy at Prince Hussein Bin Abdullah II School of International Studies. The program examines the degree of consensus and disagreement between conflict trends and the causes of conflict and peace. It focuses on the development of skills and knowledge base through the means of conflict management and resolution, such as negotiation, mediation, control, reconciliation, etc. The nature of conflicts in the contemporary world is studied, and the effectiveness of previous and current international efforts to resolve them.



Vision statements of the program:


To become an international center that is deep-seated in the Arab-sphere, which grants students the crucial knowledge and skills for resolving conflict at varied domestic and international levels. Students will become experts in inspecting key mechanisms for conflict, apply effective Conflict Resolution strategies, and develop novel and sustainable techniques for Reconciliation and Peacebuilding through salient intellectual contribution.  


Mission statements of the program:


To equip students with indispensable knowledge, frameworks, and proficiencies to address various forms of conflict on local and international scales. Furthermore, to promote peacebuilding and security by generating student outcomes that contribute to scholarly work, play pivotal leadership roles in conflict resolution, and scientifically navigate the dynamics of conflict to inspire positive change.  


Program Aims:


  1. To examine the underlying political, social, and economic factors and dynamics that generate conflict in International Relations.
  2. To equip students with knowledge in Conflict Resolution strategies including meditation, intervention, and negotiation instruments to resolve conflict.
  3. To equip students with cross-cultural proficiency to engender professional communication needed to explore and address diverse facets of conflict in international affairs.
  4. To equip students for careers in transactional justice, international organizations, NGOs, academia, and related fields.
  5. To commit to ethical distinction in Conflict Resolution that address matters of Justice, Peace, and Human Rights.​

A.    Bachelor in any field of knowledge

Please note that applicants who have graduated from an English-speaking country are exempt from the English exam requirement.

Required Documents:

After checking your eligibility for the program, your electronic application at the next step must include the following documents compiled into a single PDF file (with a size of less than 6 MB):


1.  A copy of the General Secondary Certificate (high school or Tawjihi).

2.  A copy of the bachelor's degree certificate is required for master's students. For doctoral students, a copy of the master's degree certificate with a rating of at least 'Good' is required.

3.  Transcripts for all academic years of the bachelor's degree for master's students, and transcripts for all academic years of both the bachelor's and master's degree for doctoral students.

4. The grading system used by the student's university (for graduates of non-Jordanian universities).

5. A personal photograph.

6.  A copy of the passport.
