The major aims to teach specialized subjects in the fields of Arabic literature across different literary ages, grammar, morphology, linguistics, and dictionaries. The Department of Arabic Language aspires   to excellence and leadership in preparing the student to be able to   analyze, discuss and compare objectively the characteristics, trends and development of Arabic literature through historical eras, and the characteristics and methods of literary genres in ancient and modern Arabic literature in an accurate comparison.

Program Goals 

  1. Focusing on active teaching and learning, and the use of modern technologies in education.
  2. Consolidating the habits of self-learning among students and scholars, and consolidating the trends of lifelong learning. 
  3. Dissemination and development of scientific research skills in understanding the structure and functions of society and solving social problems on scientific grounds. 
  4. Providing students with advanced educational experiences that contribute to refining their personalities and strengthening their role in serving the university and society

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit the following documents:   1.    Original General Secondary Certificate (Tawjihi) certified by The Ministry of Education (for Jordanian certificates) or an equivalent issued by The Ministry of Education (for non-Jordanian certificates). 2.    Original Comprehensive Exam Certificate and original transcript properly certified by The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (for community college Diploma holders). 3.     An authenticated copy of both the civil identification card and Birth Certificate (for Jordanians). 4.     A copy of the passport (for non-Jordanians). 5.     Three photos. 6.     Original “Good Reputation and Conduct” document and an original certified   transcript   for those  who have been previously enrolled at institutions other than UJ.     NOTE: All accepted students are going to undertake an Arabic proficiency test, English proficiency test and computer skills proficiency test during their first semester.     (Testing dates will be announced at the website later on during the semester).
