High Specialization in Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine and Special Needs Dentistry / Program Overview
​Background to the program and subject area:​
Oral Medicine is the discipline of dentistry concerned with the oral health care of medically complex patients - including the diagnosis and management of medical conditions that affect the oral and maxillofacial region.
The program is a three-year full-time residency program that includes rotations in different medical, laboratory and dental departments, and aims to provide a high quality postgraduate training in Oral Medicine and Special Care Dentistry.
Students in this course will gain an understanding of aetiopathogenesis, clinical features, investigations and management of disorders of the oral mucosa and salivary glands, non-neoplastic and neoplastic disease of the jawbones and disorders of sensation of the mouth including orofacial pain, and develop skills in investigating and managing such diseases. In addition, students will develop knowledge and skills in management of special care patients including the medically complex, mentally ill, and syndromic patients. 
Students will also conduct clinical or basic science research on various aspects of oral medicine and special care dentistry as an integral part of their training.

IBT - 69, AMIDEAST (Jordan only) IELTS - 5.5, British Council Jordan only Equivalent Exam - 65%, Language Center in The University of Jordan 
Documents Required:  The following required documents shall be uploaded to the electronic system as one PDF file whose size does not exceed (6 Megabytes). Moreover, in case the student is admitted to the program, he or she shall submit a hard duly certified copy of these documents.  1. A certified copy of the high school transcript (tawjihi) or equivalent.  2. A certified copy of the first university degree (bachelor's).  3. A certified copy of the diploma (if available).  4. A certified copy of the second university degree (master's) for PhD students.  5. A certified copy of the bachelor's, diploma, and master’s transcripts.  6. The grading system for graduates of non-Jordanian universities.  7. The equivalence of a certificate accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for certificates issued by official foreign and Arab universities.  8. A document that proves that the student has undergone the English language test.  9. Three personal photos.  10. A certified copy of the birth certificate with the national number on it.  11. A certified copy of the national ID card.  12. A copy of the military service book (for male students who were born in 1989 or before). 13. A no-objection paper for students who work in official, governmental, and any other institutions where workers are conditioned to get an approval to continue their study in advance. This applies to workers at UJ as well as at UJ hospital.  14. A hand-written approval issued by the eligible party stating a no-objection of the study for its holder. This applies to affiliates of the Jordanian Military Forces and Security Apparatuses.  15. A copy of a published (or an accepted for publication) research paper in a refereed scientific journal for students applying for PhD programs (if available).  16. A letter of a one-year practical experience in health service institutions or in learning and training in the required specialization. This applies to students applying for the master’s programs offered by the School of Nursing.  17. A 20-JD prepaid credit card for Jordanian students and a 150-JD prepaid credit card for non-Jordanian students. Such cards can be bought from the financial department, which is located on the second floor in the Unit of Admission and Registration at The University of Jordan.
