Background to the program and subject area:

The department of physiotherapy has been part of the School of Rehabilitation Sciences since its establishment in 1999. We have been key players in the development of the school and its academic programs. Physiotherapy has been taught in the University of Jordan for 18 years. We continue to be one of the regional leading providers of physiotherapy courses and training. Our BSc course qualifies students to practice physiotherapy. Joining our BSc program enables students to gain an integrated approach to physiotherapy education and clinical practice.

This program adopts the principles of professional physiotherapy practice by equipping students with distinguished learning skills, basic scientific knowledge, hands on training and clinical placement. Physiotherapy department provides training in the following specialties: Neurological, Cardiopulmonary, Musculoskeletal, Paediatrics, Geriatrics, Burns and Surgery. The department’s staff includes 12 PhD holders and 1MSc holder who graduated from highly ranked international universities across Europe, US and Canada. The delivery of practical and clinical training is supported by 7 lab instructors. The department endorses multidisciplinary research in the following areas: higher education and e-learning, measurement of rehabilitation outcomes, gait and motor control, pulmonary rehabilitation, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, neurological rehabilitation and pediatric rehabilitation. The department envisions activating the physiotherapy clinics to support the local community by providing high quality physiotherapy services. Moreover, we hope to deliver postgraduate and doctoral programs in the near future.

  Program Aims:

The goal of the department of physiotherapy is to prepare physiotherapists with adequate knowledge, skills and attitudes required for entry into the profession. Graduates from this program should:

• Demonstrate knowledge of the theoretical bases of physiotherapy.
• Integrate knowledge of basic sciences and physiotherapy in order to modify treatment approaches.
• Have adequate clinical training and practical skills.
• Have basic and applied research and ethical principles needed for the profession.
• Have the capacity to work as an efficient member of rehabilitation team.
• Have adequate communication skills with colleagues and patients.

Admission Requirements

Students are admitted to the program following their passing of the higher secondary exams held by Ministry of Education and according to the grade requirements set by Commission of Admission to Universities and the Laws and Regulations of the University of Jordan in regular and international courses of study.



To enroll at the University of Jordan, you need to meet the minimum required GPA for the General Secondary Education Certificate;

The required GPA is 60 %

To start the admission process, you first need:

 


1.  A copy of the passport.



2.  For international students who hold a Jordanian high school certificate (i.e. Tawjehi), you need to provide your Transcript certified from the Jordanian Ministry of Education.

2.1 For International students with a Saudi certificate, you need to get an equivalency from the Ministry of Education in Jordan ( after 2016).



2.2 For international students holding Arabic certificates, you need to have your certificate certified by the Ministry of Education in Jordan.



3.2. For international students holding an international certificate from Jordan (e.g. I.B., SAT, I.G.C.E​, etc.​.), you need to start the equivalency process at the Jordanian Ministry of education (https://apps.moe.gov.jo/apps/certificate/).



4.2. For international students holding an international certificate (e.g. I.B., SAT, I.G.C.E., etc.​.),​​ from Arab countries,  you need to start the equivalency process at the Jordanian  Ministry of education (https://apps.moe.gov.jo/apps/certificate/) or at the Ministry of education in your country showing the average and the branch.



5.2.  For international students holding an international certificate (e.g. I.B., SAT, I.G.C.E., etc..), from non-Arab countries, you need to start the equivalency process at the Jordanian Ministry of education​ (https://apps.moe.gov.jo/apps/certificate/).



(Important note: If a student is unable to provide the university with the equivalency of the certificate before arriving to Jordan, they can do this process during the first semester).
