The Doctoral Program in Translation and Paratranslation investigates how, throughout history, translation and interpretation have been key practices in the construction of cultures and their capacity for change. Cultures are the result of a constant negotiation of translated texts, both linguistic and iconic or symbolic. The people who translate are agents of cultural mediation with the capacity for social and political transformation. We currently live in mixed realities, read translated languages, see adapted images, and consume localized products that have been commissioned for translation and interpretation. The T&P Doctorate is the only doctoral program in translation and interpretation in the whole of the Galicia-Portugal Euroregion. This is a postgraduate research representative of the European Higher Education Area that responds to the demand for training by Translation and Interpreting students, covering the need to offer additional training to improve their own career prospects. In this sense, we offer a balanced set of theoretical and practical contents with a view to both research and the preparation of translation and interpretation professionals.

Admission Requirements
Access requirements
Advanced knowledge (level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for languages) of at least two foreign languages, as well as having an academic or professional profile suitable for the D_T&P, will be considered a sine qua non requirement. Both aspects must be accredited either in documentary form, or through a personal interview if the Academic Commission of the Doctoral Program T & P (CAPD_ T & P) considers it appropriate. To assess the suitability of the candidates, the academic record will be especially considered in relation to the profile of the Doctorate, professional experience, important translations carried out, scientific publications, as well as having passed other relevant postgraduate courses.
