The traditional training in Degree in Mechanical Engineering is oriented towards the acquisition of expertise in solving specific problems of this branch and towards the ability to adapt to the technological changes that a student of this degree will have to face during his professional life. Thus, this training is based on basic scientific and engineering knowledge such as Physics, Mathematics, Graphic Expression, Statistics and Chemistry. In addition, specific training in Mechanics, Solid Mechanics, Structure Mechanics, Thermal Engineering and Fluid Mechanics provides the basis for more technological subjects.

The specific technological subjects guide students so that they can intervene in the activities of their profession. These subjects also promote the relevance of considering aspects of process integration and rational use of energy in the phases of design, calculation, analysis, dimensioning, verification, use and maintenance of machines, processes, vehicles, structures, constructions and installations. Currently, in addition to the experimental and metrological skills, the graduate in Mechanical Engineering must master, in a transversal way, the computer techniques that assist in their work in different ways and that are essential tools. This degree incorporates computer-assisted techniques in the different subjects where they are required.

Professional outcomes:

  • Design, assessment, quality control and management of construction projects, assembly, maintenance and repair of structures, industrial constructions and installations.
  • Renewable energy projects: solar thermal, biomass and waste recovery, geothermal energy.
  • Energy efficiency of equipment and thermal installations: energy qualification in buildings, heat recovery in industrial processes.
  • Design and manufacturing projects of parts, tools and machines of final functionality or mechanical process (CAD/CAM/CAE technologies).
