The interuniversity doctoral program (UVIGO-UDC) in Advanced Biotechnology aims to train research professionals in different areas of biotechnology research and to provide a competitive, homogeneous, well-structured and quality doctoral study offer. The objective is to prepare students to be able to complete theoretical, methodological and research training in the multidisciplinary field of Biotechnology, which will materialize in the preparation and public defense of a complex, original and innovative Doctoral Thesis. The Interuniversity Academic Committee of the doctoral program (CAPD) will be responsible for the teaching coordination between the participating universities to achieve the proposed objective. Students must have completed a related degree and master's degree, so that their doctoral training will be based on specialized seminars, participation in scientific conferences and research stays abroad, in addition to an intense research training aimed at the Doctoral Thesis. In addition to the research groups assigned to the doctoral program, theses may be carried out in prestigious groups external to UVIGO and UDC or in associated Research Centers, with prior authorization from the Academic Committee.
The aim is, therefore, to train highly qualified professionals prepared to meet the demand of the growing number of biotechnology companies and who are capable of carrying out quality research work, with international projection and who will lead in the future the research groups and R&D&I departments of public centers and national and international private companies.

Admission Requirements
In general, to access an official doctoral program it will be necessary to hold the official Spanish Bachelor's and Master's degrees, or equivalent, provided that at least 300 ECTS credits have been passed in the set of these two studies.

- Applicants must hold official Spanish university degrees or equivalent Spanish qualifications, provided they have completed at least 300 ECTS credits across all their studies and demonstrate a Level 3 qualification within the Spanish Framework for Higher Education Qualifications. Students with a Spanish Master's degree and a non-Spanish Bachelor's degree may be admitted to doctoral studies even if they have not achieved the required 300 ECTS credits or five years of combined official university studies.
- Students holding a degree obtained under a foreign education system belonging to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) may apply for admission to doctoral studies provided they can demonstrate a level 7 qualification within the European Qualifications Framework, without requiring official recognition of their degree, and provided that the degree qualifies them for admission to doctoral studies in the country where it was awarded. This admission will not, under any circumstances, imply official recognition of the applicant's prior degree or its recognition for any purpose other than admission to doctoral studies.
- Students holding a degree obtained under a foreign educational system outside the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) may apply for admission to doctoral studies without the need for official recognition of their degree, provided the University of Vigo verifies that their qualification certifies a level of education equivalent to that of the official Spanish Master's degree that qualifies them for doctoral studies in the country where the degree was awarded. This admission will not, under any circumstances, imply official recognition of the applicant's prior degree or its recognition for any purpose other than admission to doctoral studies.

- University graduates who have obtained a place in training through the corresponding entrance exam for specialized health training positions, and who have successfully completed at least two years of training in a program to obtain the official title of one of the specialties in Health Sciences, will also be eligible.
