The Interuniversity Doctoral Program in Equity and Innovation in Education is a joint project of the Universities of the northwest of the peninsula: University of Vigo (coordinating university), University of Santiago de Compostela, University of A Coruña, University of Oviedo and University of Cantabria. In these Universities we offer a common doctoral program for the training and specialization of professionals in research committed to innovation and equal opportunities in education. The program is especially aimed at promoting research on innovation processes for the improvement of school, educational and social conditions in which children and young people develop from a perspective always committed to equity. This thematic axis revolves around two lines of research: a) Processes of socio-educational inclusion and exclusion and b) Innovation for educational equity. Both lines are broken down into specific fields that will allow the research staff in training to expand and deepen their knowledge on numerous aspects related to educational equity, innovation and improvement of education.

Admission criteria

Students who, in accordance with the access requirements, request it and meet any of the following conditions may access this doctoral program:

  1. Students who take and pass the following master's degrees taught by the Faculties of Educational Sciences and Faculties of Teacher Training of the five participating Universities. Among them, some master's degrees will need to be completed with complementary training in Educational Research Methodology.
  2. Applicants who have an official master's degree, with preference for other master's degrees linked to Education Sciences (other than those mentioned in point 1) over master's degrees in other areas of knowledge.
  3. Applicants who prove they have passed 60 postgraduate ECTS from an official study plan of Spanish Universities (with preference being given to applicants who come from undergraduate degrees in the area of ​​Educational Sciences, compared to those from degrees in other areas of knowledge.
  4. Applicants who certify the Research Sufficiency of a doctoral program in Educational Sciences regulated by RD 185/85 and those who certify being in possession of the Diploma of Advanced Studies regulated by RD 778/98.
  5. Applicants in possession of a foreign degree equivalent to the official master's degree in the field of Educational Sciences that entitles them, in the country of origin, to access doctoral studies in the research phase (approved or not approved).
  6. Applicants for other master's degrees that are developed in the future, linked to the area of ​​Educational Sciences.

Cases 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be analyzed individually by the Academic Committee of the Doctorate, which may confirm or not the adequacy of the previous training of the candidate for this Doctoral Program.
