Heritage has become in recent years one of the main focuses of interest for our society. A heritage understood as a polysemic set of elements of dynamic character and closely linked to the landscape. A heritage object of study of various scientific disciplines, with emotional link to citizenship and a huge potential as a strategic sector for the development of new socio-economic models.

This Master's Degree in Valuation, Management and Protection of Heritage aims to be a meeting point for professionals who work with this heritage. Whether from the point of view of research and conservation of its elements or from the bidirectional transfer of knowledge with society. This is why we intend to create an interdisciplinary space for different specialists, focusing on comprehensive training that will enable them to become qualified managers capable of developing joint work protocols.

From this Master we understand that in order to approach heritage as an object of work, it is necessary to combine knowledge and methodologies offered by a multitude of disciplines necessarily obviated in the less transversal university degrees. Only in this way is it possible to cover all the necessary and possible readings present in any cultural property. Documenting and investigating from a microscopic view to understand broader territorial dynamics.

This Master is the necessary fusion of two previous Master-focuses:

  • Master in Technologies for the protection of immovable Cultural Heritage.
  • Master in History, territory and heritage resources.

In the past editions of these masters, we have accumulated the necessary experience to tackle this transdisciplinary project.

Three centres in Galicia now want to unite their three areas of knowledge History - Technology - Conservation and generate a new common area of intersection, which is Heritage.
