The Master's Degree in Advanced English Studies and its Applications brings together studies in the language, literature and culture of English-speaking countries at three Galician universities (UDC, USC and UVigo) and offers advanced training in important subjects in this field of study. It is a 60 ECTS programme of blended learning, combining face-to-face teaching (14 hours per subject) and on-site and independent work. The first four-month period consists of eight compulsory subjects and the second of six more subjects, and there is a choice between two itineraries; one specialising in Linguistics and the other in Literature and Culture. The programme is completed with an internship in different companies and institutions (6 ECTS) and a research project (12 ECTS).

Professional opportunities:

Research, teaching, language consultancy, cultural institutions and companies. This master's degree provides students with access to the Inter-University Master's Degree Programme in Advanced English Studies, also organised by the three Galician universities.

English language requirements

Students are required to be proficient in the English language at both oral and written levels (C1 level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Entry requirements

Graduates holding a BA in any area of the Humanities or Social Sciences from any accredited European university or from an international institution of higher education of a similar level can apply for admission. More specifically, in accordance with the terms set out in the Degree Statement, section 4.2, ‘Requisitos de acceso y criterios de admisión‘ (English version available here), the programme is open to graduates holding a BA in:

  • English Language and Literature
  • Modern Languages and Literatures (also including Galician, Basque, Catalan and Spanish)
