The Master's Degree in Multimedia Translation (MTM) at UVigo's main objective is to complete the training of students and professionals in translation and related fields in multimedia environments. It is oriented towards the professional application of the technical knowledge acquired and, with an eminently practical approach, aims to meet the social demand and specialise graduates and graduates in the field covered by the degree.

General objectives:

  • Knowledge of the different modalities of audiovisual translation and its techniques (codes of meaning of the audiovisual text, stages of the dubbing process, subtitling and superimposed voices, and translation techniques for dubbing, subtitling and superimposed voices).
  • Knowledge of the different computer tools for the successful translation of web pages, computer products and video games.
  • Knowledge of the analysis models that will allow rigorous critiques to be carried out, always in search of the quality of the final translated product.
  • Knowledge of the business environment that provides professional opportunities for multimedia translation specialists.

Access certification

Priority will be given to applicants with a bachelor's or degree in Translation and Interpreting and in other disciplines with professional experience in the different fields of multimedia translation. However, the degree may admit applicants with a degree/degree from other fields without professional experience, provided they prove the necessary language skills. 

Language skills required

  • Spanish/Galician/Portuguese language (mother tongue level/C1) : those enrolled must master at least one of these languages.
  • English language (level B2, at least). The required level is necessary to be able to access the course consultation documentation, solve translation assignments and carry out the internships corresponding to the master's degree, which will be the majority in these combinations.
