Biomedical Engineering is a new branch of engineering that focuses on the application of engineering principles, techniques and methods to the field of medicine. It is therefore a relatively new interdisciplinary degree in which the techniques of industrial engineering (mechanical engineering, electronic and automatic engineering, chemical engineering, organizational engineering, ...) computer engineering and telecommunications engineering are applied to the analysis and resolution of problems related to 21st century medicine.

The Degree in Biomedical Engineering provides general training in all these subjects and also allows for an intensification from the second semester of the third year and fourth year, where it is mandatory to choose between one of the two intensifications:

  • BIOTECH (BT): Electronics, hospital information processing, control and signals in biomedicine.
  • BIOMMEC (BM): Implantology, biomechanics, biomaterials and equipment.
