The Doctoral Program in Economic Analysis and Business Strategy, regulated by Royal Decree 99/2011, brings together researchers from the different areas of Economics and Business from the Faculties of Economic and Business Sciences of the Universities of Coruña, Santiago de Compostela and Vigo, who carry out quality research proven by their publications in internationally renowned scientific journals. The objective of the Program is to train researchers who can rigorously use economic models to handle empirical data with proven econometric techniques that allow them to address theoretical or practical problems and publish their conclusions in academic journals of international relevance. The Program has researchers with proven experience in different fields of economics and business sciences such as, for example: environmental and natural resource economics, strategic behavior and game theory, industrial and information economics, health economics and economic policy analysis, macroeconomic analysis, quantitative methods, economic and financial analysis, innovation, operations management, human resources, company organization and strategy, marketing and market research, tourism, spatial and regional economics, inequality and gender economics or economic history. The researchers involved in this Doctoral Program are integrated into reference research groups of the University System of Galicia or in other research groups that obtain funding in different national or European competitive calls.

Admission Requirements

Admission criteria

In general, applicants who have completed a master's degree in Economics and / or Business with a good academic performance (average grade equal to or higher than notable) will be admitted to this Program and will familiarize the student with the main theoretical paradigms and methods of empirical analysis of their specialization, having to accredit at least 6 credits in the following courses: Econometrics; Microeconomics or Finance; Advanced Business Economics.

In addition, students from other master's programs who, in the opinion of the Academic Committee, enable them to successfully approach the Program may be admitted to the Program. Examples of this situation may be students from master's programs in engineering, math, or statistics. In the event that the applicant does not have the required previous training, admission will be conditional on passing specific training supplements.

The selection criteria of the students will be based fundamentally on the academic transcript. The curriculum vitae will also be taken into account, and an interview with the candidate will be relevant for the decision on admission to the program, in which his / her ability to express himself / herself in English, his / her training on a doctoral program, and its willingness to address it. It will be very positive that the applicant has contacted a thesis supervisor who has agreed to direct it.
