Cybersecurity as a discipline comprises the set of principles, techniques and regulations that prevent the malicious use of data, machines or information, and has therefore become one of the technological priorities of our time. The Interuniversity Master's Degree in Cybersecurity of the Universidade de Vigo and the University of A Coruña is a specialised study programme that offers a rigorous and extensive professional training in this field, from the fundamentals to the applications, from the mechanisms to the legislation, and from the concepts to the real problems of companies. The training programme consists of 90 ECTS, divided into three semesters; a first year of classroom lectures, to be chosen at the Coruña and Vigo campuses, and a final semester dedicated to work experience in companies and the final Master's thesis.

Objectives of the qualification:

The objective of the Master is to train specialists in the analysis of security risks in systems and installations, in the identification of high-value information and its protection, in the definition of plans to reduce the risk of cyber-attacks and to ensure cyber-defence in the information and processes of companies and institutions.

Admission criteria

The specific criteria for admission to the Master will be, in order of prevalence:

  • the access qualification of the applicants
  • the academic record
  • professional experience

Preference in admission will be given to those who hold a bachelor's degree directly related to information and communication technologies from any EHEA university, followed by those who have a bachelor's degree in basic scientific disciplines (Mathematics, Physics or related studies), and these will have preference over any other academic degree. Previous professional experience in the field of computer security may be used by the Academic Committee of the Master's Degree as an additional criterion to decide admissions, as well as, if it considers it necessary, the personal interview with the applicants to duly gauge their aptitude and motivation.
