The Master's Degree in Automotive Engineering is an official degree approved by the Council of Ministers and has been offered since the 2013/14 academic year. It is an evolution of the Master in Automotive Industry Technologies and Processes, taught from the academic year 2008/09 to 2012/13.

In the academic year 2020/21, a new syllabus was launched in response to the profound changes that are taking place in the automotive sector and the new needs and demands that this entails.

New trends and knowledge are incorporated into the training programme: autonomous and connected vehicles, thermal, hybrid and electric motor propulsion systems, 4.0 technologies, additive manufacturing, advanced computational engineering techniques...

In addition to the Universidade de Vigo, three entities are the driving forces behind this master's degree:

  • Stellantis, through its Vigo centre, one of the main production plants of Stellantis and one of the basic pillars of the Galician economy.
  • The Galician Automotive Technology Centre (CTAG), one of the most modern R&D&I centres in Europe, offers advanced technological solutions to the automotive sector.
  • The Galician Automotive Cluster (CEAGA). After more than ten years of experience, it has become a reference cluster in Spain and Europe.

An important part of the Master’s teaching staff is professionals from these organisations, which in addition to their human resources make their facilities available to the Master's for training activities.

The objective of the master's degree is to train professional specialists in automotive engineering. This sector is characterised by its extraordinary complexity and high competitiveness, together with a high rate of technological innovation, which requires human capital with multidisciplinary and high-level training.

The Master's Degree offers global training in the various aspects and technologies used in the research and development of products and manufacturing processes, always following a fundamental premise of the automotive sector: continuous improvement.
