The proposed program combines the potential of groups participating in other previous doctoral programs; in particular, eight members of the team of the University of Vigo come from the Doctoral Program in Environmental Technology of that university, distinguished from the 2006/07 academic year with the mentions of quality and towards the excellence of the Ministry of Education. Also, this new doctoral program received the mention of excellence.
