The Doctoral Program in Terrestrial Ecosystems, Sustainable Use and Environmental Implications proposed by the University of Vigo aims to help fill an empty space so far that includes lines of research relating to soil and living organisms, with a special incidence in soil-plant relationships. The proposed program combines the potential of groups participating in other previous doctoral programs; in particular, eight members of the team of the University of Vigo come from the Doctoral Program in Environmental Technology of that university, distinguished from the 2006/07 academic year with the mentions of quality and towards the excellence of the Ministry of Education. Also, this new doctoral program received the mention of excellence.
