Admission procedures and criteria

Students wishing to complete this doctoral program will submit their application as determined by the regulations, procedures and calendars of the University of Vigo in the call for annual enrollment .

With regard to selection, the principles of objectivity, impartiality, merit and ability will be followed, and the following criteria will be taken into account:

  • Curriculum vitae of the candidates, taking into account the previous studies carried out.
  • Letter of application, with express mention of their motivation, in which the student will include the personal or professional justification that leads him to request his entrance, his motivation and temporary commitment with the studies but the thematic and line of investigation that pretends to realize. In addition, you will add a preliminary proposal (four to six pages) of your doctoral dissertation project, endorsed by a researcher, which will contain the following sections: degree, objectives, theoretical foundations, methodology, references, schedule (optional) and a potential thesis index (optional).
  • Other academic and / or professional merits.

In any case, admission and selection will be restricted to the entry numbers set for the Doctoral Program, within the framework determined in the higher order provisions in this regard. Initially, the following criteria are established:

  • The curriculum of the candidate students will have a minimum value of 70%. The assessment of the transcripts will take into account the average values ​​of the respective degrees. In addition to the academic transcript and the master's degree, research experience, obtaining research grants and scientific production related to the subject of the program will be especially valued.
  • The application letter together with the preliminary proposal of the doctoral thesis project will have a value of 20%
  • Other academic and professional merits, as well as endorsement letters from accredited professionals in the thematic fields of the doctoral program, will be valued up to a maximum of 10%.
