In accordance with current regulations, this master's degree is a mandatory requirement for the practice of law and legal representation. It prepares students to take the entrance exams to the practice of law and legal representation, while also training them to become future professionals.
Admission Requirements
In accordance with the provisions of article 2.1 of Royal Decree 64/2023, of February 8, which approves the regulations of Law 34/2006, of October 30, on access to the professions of lawyer and attorney, obtaining professional qualification to practice law and attorneyship requires compliance with the following requirements:
- Be in possession of an official university degree in Law. Article 3 of the same royal decree itself stipulates that the official university degrees in Law referred to in article 2.1.a) must accredit the acquisition of the following legal competences:
- Know and understand the elements, structure, resources, interpretation and application of the legal system and interpret the sources and fundamental legal concepts of each of the different legal orders.
- Know and understand the mechanisms and procedures for resolving legal conflicts, as well as the legal position of individuals in their relationships with the Administration and, in general, with public authorities.
- Know and be able to apply the criteria of precedence of sources to determine the applicable rules in each case, and especially those that are in accordance with constitutional rules, principles and values.
- Interpret legal texts from an interdisciplinary perspective using legal principles and social, ethical and deontological values and principles as analytical tools.
- Make a statement with convincing legal argumentation on a theoretical issue related to various legal matters.
- Resolve practical cases in accordance with current positive law, which implies the prior preparation of material, the identification of problematic issues, the selection and interpretation of data from the applicable positive law and the reasoned presentation of the subsumption.
- Use legal language and terminology from different branches of law with skill and precision. Write legal documents in an orderly and understandable manner. Communicate ideas, arguments and legal reasoning orally and in writing, using the appropriate registers for each context.
- Use information and communication technologies to search for and obtain legal information (legislation databases, case law, bibliography, etc.), as well as work and communication tools.
The academic committee will be responsible for selecting students, giving priority to applications based on the average grade of the academic record.
