This interdisciplinary Doctoral Program in Communication aims to train specialists in the different areas of human communication, understood in a broad sense and in all its dimensions. To that end, it is organized into seven lines of research: Organizational Communication and Public Relations; Virtual communication, cyberjournalism and translation technologies; Literature, linguistics and translation; Sociologies of translation and communication; Communication theory and history; Public service communication; Multimedia Translation and Specialized Translation and Communication. They are professors at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication and the Faculty of Philology and Translation (University of Vigo), as well as professors at the universities of São Paulo, University of Roehampton and University College London.

Admission criteria

The general admission criterion is the submission of a PhD Thesis Project proposal related to one of the existing research teams in the Doctoral Program.

Applications will be evaluated from:

- Letter of request, with express mention of the motivation of the same.

- Curriculum Vitae with express mention of the degree, the academic transcript (40% degree / bachelor's degree and 20% master's degree) and also:

  • professional experience related to the specific areas of the program (10%).
  • additional training to the degree itself and, where applicable, other official qualifications (5%).
  • participation in competitive research projects related to the specific areas of the program (5%).
  • authorship or co-participation in research work related to the specific areas of the program (5%).
  • obtaining scholarships and research grants in competitive calls (5%).
  • language skills and technological skills (10%).

In view of the documentation provided, the CAPD will proceed to the selection of candidacies and, subsequently, to the assignment of academic tutoring to them.

In the case of students from other doctorates regulated by previous regulations, as well as in the case of transfers of files from other programs or other universities, the CAPD will evaluate the applications, which must necessarily be accompanied by reports from those responsible for the studies carried out.
