Admission criteria

In addition to the general requirements for access to a doctorate, the Language Studies program addresses:

  • Have an academic background in linguistics or philology (or equivalent). In the case of mixed profiles, ie when the language training is partial, admission may be conditional on the completion of prior training supplements, which will be determined by the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Program.
  • Candidates from other countries must demonstrate knowledge of Galician, Portuguese or Spanish.
  • In the event that the mother tongue is one of the three mentioned in the previous paragraph (Spanish, Galician or Portuguese), have a B1 level of knowledge of a language other than these.
  • Submit, in writing, a statement of intent on a possible thesis project or topic, the field of linguistics in which they would like to work, or the motivation (s) for developing that specific research work.
