The Master of Science programme in Athletic Therapy is directed to physiotherapy graduates. It is the first of its kind in the Arab countries. It was developed to provide high quality services for athletes with different sport related injuries and provides the public and private sectors with qualified athletic therapists to cover national, regional and international teams. The program aims to provide students with the knowledge and practical skills needed in injury prevention, emergency care, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletes on and off the field. It also covers ethical issues, legal responsibilities, financial aspects, administrative, leadership, and communication skills required from athletic therapists. The program focuses on evidence-based assessment and management of different injuries of the upper and lower extremities, in addition to spinal cord injuries, concussion, and injuries to internal organs with an emphasis on developing a return to play plan. Field training is embedded within the course which allows direct contact with athletes during their training or in competitions.

Program aims​

1- To graduate athletic therapists with high scientific knowledge and practical competence, able to play a significant role in the prevention of sports injuries, evaluating sports injuries, and designing safe and effective rehabilitation programs, with steps to return to playing in different sports.

2- To contribute to the role of The University of Jordan in providing higher education programs with outcomes that contribute to society​

General rules and conditions for acceptance:

1. Bachelor of science in physiotherapy only.

2. Special condition "exercise physiology" course is a pre-requisite for this program.


Required Scores of English Language Tests

Please note that applicants who have graduated from an English-speaking country are exempt from the English exam requirement.

After checking your eligibility for the program, your electronic application at the next step must include the following documents compiled into a single PDF file (with a size of less than 6 MB):


1.  A copy of the General Secondary Certificate (high school or Tawjihi).

2.  A copy of the bachelor's degree certificate is required for master's students. For doctoral students, a copy of the master's degree certificate with a rating of at least 'Good' is required.

3.  Transcripts for all academic years of the bachelor's degree for master's students, and transcripts for all academic years of both the bachelor's and master's degree for doctoral students.

4. The grading system used by the student's university (for graduates of non-Jordanian universities).

5. A personal photograph.

6.  A copy of the passport.
