Background to the program and subject area:

Medical laboratory sciences is a specialty that uses biotechnology and devices to analyze various body samples in order to help doctors diagnose and treat various diseases and monitor the patient's general condition. This specialty provides the opportunity for the graduate to work as a specialized technician in medical laboratories. The study system in the Medical Laboratory Sciences program is a semester system in which the study extends over a period of four years, during which the student is empowered with the theoretical and practical basics of various medical laboratory sciences, which include hematology, blood banking, clinical chemistry, medical microbiology, medical parasitology, medical mycology, viruses, medical immunology, and serology, in addition to... Molecular biology techniques, microscopic preparations, laboratory equipment, measurement methods, medical laboratory management, quality control, health occupational safety, and ethics of the medical laboratory profession. The program includes field training in hospital laboratories accredited for training in the fourth year of the program.

The Medical Laboratory Sciences Program aims to graduate highly qualified human cadres as specialized technicians in medical laboratories, so that they contribute to providing high-quality health care in the Kingdom. The program seeks to be one of the distinguished educational programs in the field of laboratory medical sciences, including research and training at the national level, and in accordance with international health professional standards and foundations in comprehensive quality.

The mission of the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences is to graduate effective medical personnel who are distinguished scientifically and practically, at the bachelor’s and postgraduate levels, and who have the ability to work as prominent members of the health care team in various health fields, and to have the ability to manage and work in medical laboratories with high efficiency and professionalism. Promoting the process of medical scientific research and encouraging research creativity, by providing an environment conducive to creativity and scientific, professional and research excellence to achieve academic and professional accreditation nationally and globally.​

Admission Requirements

To enroll at the University of Jordan, you need to meet the minimum required GPA for the General Secondary Education Certificate; The required GPA is 55 %

Required documents:

To start the admission process, you first need:   ​
1.  A copy of the passport.

2.  For international students who hold a Jordanian high school certificate (i.e. Tawjehi), you need to provide your Transcript certified from the Jordanian Ministry of Education. 2.1 For International students with a Saudi certificate, you need to get an equivalency from the Ministry of Education in Jordan ( after 2016).

2.2 For international students holding Arabic certificates, you need to have your certificate certified by the Ministry of Education in Jordan.

3.2. For international students holding an international certificate from Jordan (e.g. I.B., SAT, I.G.C.E​, etc.​.), you need to start the equivalency process at the Jordanian Ministry of education (https://apps.moe.gov.jo/apps/certificate/).

4.2. For international students holding an international certificate (e.g. I.B., SAT, I.G.C.E., etc.​.),​​ from Arab countries,  you need to start the equivalency process at the Jordanian  Ministry of education (https://apps.moe.gov.jo/apps/certificate/) or at the Ministry of education in your country showing the average and the branch.

5.2.  For international students holding an international certificate (e.g. I.B., SAT, I.G.C.E., etc..), from non-Arab countries, you need to start the equivalency process at the Jordanian Ministry of education​ (https://apps.moe.gov.jo/apps/certificate/).

(Important note: If a student is unable to provide the university with the equivalency of the certificate before arriving to Jordan, they can do this process during the first semester).
