The philosophy programs are designed in such a way as to provide the student with an adequate knowledge of the essential themes and the main forms of philosophical questioning. Based on the achievements of its history, philosophy makes it possible to develop an integrated conception of human culture, at the same time as it trains in methods of analysis and critical reflection.

The objectives of the program are five-fold: to allow the student to complete his academic training; demonstrate that the student is capable of producing a work that makes an original contribution to the discipline; provide training to teach philosophy at university level; train professional consultants in strategic areas (ethics, politics, communication); train high-level researchers.

To be eligible as a regular Ph.D. (philosophy) student, the candidate must:

meet the general eligibility conditions (section XX of the Academic Regulations) for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
hold an MA (philosophy), or a 2nd cycle diploma adequately preparing for the studies they want to undertake, or attest to training deemed equivalent
have obtained, in the 2nd cycle, an average of at least 3.3 out of 4.3 or the equivalent
demonstrate a good knowledge of French and English and a sufficient knowledge of any other language deemed necessary for the pursuit of his research.
