Landscape architecture aims to plan and develop outdoor spaces and landscapes in urban, peri-urban and rural contexts.


The master's program is accredited by the Canadian Association of Landscape Architects and provides state-of-the-art professional training. It allows students to acquire the in-depth knowledge, working methods and critical thinking skills necessary for the practice of the discipline in a world faced with multiple and complex landscape and territorial issues.


The program aims to:

  • Deepen knowledge of landscape and its multiple dimensions
  • Develop skills in establishing measures, mechanisms and tools to assess, conserve, enhance, develop and manage landscapes
  • Transmit intellectual resources, critical thinking and conceptual approaches necessary for the production of inventive and fruitful solutions and projects

At the end of a master's degree in landscape architecture, you will be able to:
  • Intervene in all contexts and all scales of landscape architecture projects, from an economically, ecologically and sociologically responsible perspective
  • Analyze the landscape dimension of major development plans and the concrete quality of spaces
  • Participate in joint landscape assessment, design, planning and management operations with other landscaping professionals

Admission requirements

Undergraduate

To be eligible as a regular student for the master's degree in landscape architecture, the candidate must:
  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Academic Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
  • hold an undergraduate degree in landscape architecture or an equivalent degree in a discipline related to planning (e.g. architecture, urban planning, industrial design, environmental design, geography, planning territory and agronomy)
  • hold an undergraduate degree in a discipline other than landscaping and attest to relevant experience or training
  • have obtained in the 1st cycle, an average of at least 3.0 out of 4.3 (or the equivalent) or the average required by the home university for admission to a 2nd cycle program, if this one is higher

Students must be fluent in French and have sufficient knowledge of English.
