The master's degree in comparative private law is aimed at students from all continents who wish to know and compare different legal systems.


In one year of training, they acquire a historical, comparative and global look at private law in the civil law tradition around the world by studying the similarities and particularities and by analyzing their respective evolution. You can consult the details on the  Faculty of Law website.


The main objective of this option is to offer an academic and university education in comparative law allowing students to develop a critical mind on the evolution of private law in the civil law tradition throughout the world.


More specifically, the option pursues the following objectives:


  • provide students with knowledge of comparative private law in a context of globalization and competition between legal systems
  • promote a global understanding of the civil law tradition while identifying the particularisms between its various expressions
  • develop in the student a critical spirit and a distance from his past achievements and his original legal socialization
  • allow students to benefit from the contribution of professors and international students and thus forge diversified links.

To be eligible as a regular LL student. M. (law), the candidate must satisfy the general conditions of admissibility, namely, and unless otherwise indicated in the conditions specific to the option:
  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section II) of the Academic Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
  • have obtained, in the 1st cycle, an average of at least 3.0 out of 4.3 or the equivalent
