Would you like to help people living with partial or total visual impairment and carry out your studies in English? The only Canadian university to offer a master's degree in visual impairment intervention, UdeM offers training entirely in English allowing you to work with people with visual impairments, while investing in applied and clinical research. This program (titled Master's in Vision Science, Visual Impairment and Rehabilitation option ) is aimed at holders of an undergraduate degree in occupational therapy, psychology, social work or any other field of helping relations or health.

In addition to direct interventions carried out with each client, you develop expertise to educate the public about visual impairment and propose adaptations aimed at improving the accessibility of public spaces and the social environment for people with visual impairments. Offering internships that can be done anywhere in the world, this is an interesting path for people looking to work with people or quickly change their career path.

General eligibility conditions

To be eligible as a regular student, the candidate must meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Required diplomas and admission thresholds: Quebec

To meet the Université de Montréal average of 3.0 out of 4.3, candidates from this province must meet the following requirements:

Accepted diploma: Baccalaureate, Bachelor; duration of 3 years, or another undergraduate degree deemed equivalent.

  • Bishop: 75%
  • Concordia University: 3.0/4.3
  • Higher Technology School: 3.0/4.3
  • HEC Montreal: 3.0/4.3
  • McGill University: 3.0/4.0
  • Polytechnique Montréal: 2.75/4.0
  • University of Sherbrooke: 3.0/4.3
  • Laval University: 3.0/4.3
  • Universities of Quebec: 3.2/4.3
Conditions specific to this program

To be eligible as a regular student for the master's degree in vision sciences, visual impairment intervention option (in English), the candidate must:

  • meet the general eligibility conditions (section XI) of the Educational Regulations for Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
  • hold an undergraduate diploma adequately preparing for the studies they wish to undertake, or an equivalent diploma
  • have obtained, in the 1st cycle, an average of at least 3.0 out of 4.3 (or the equivalent) or the average required by the original university for admission to a 2nd cycle program, if it is higher
The candidate must have a good knowledge of spoken and written English. The admissions committee may request an interview.

The program's capacity is limited.
