The study objective of the bachelor's degree in History/Histoire (HamBord) is the development of basic technical, methodological and theoretical knowledge as well as skills and abilities that form the basis for later activities on an academic basis. The focus is on German- and French-language historiography and German-French history. In addition, reference is made to current problems and questions of historical research in other cultural areas.
Particular value is placed on students from both countries studying together (from the second to fifth semester). During the first year, students are made aware of the differences and similarities between the German and French-speaking academic traditions; In the 2nd semester in Hamburg there will be a joint excursion as part of the module "Comparative History of Germany and France". During their studies, students receive special supervision in both universities and have to carry out a study project.
Attention: The course is bilingual. The languages of study are German and French.

Admission Requirements
If such proof cannot be provided with the application for admission, equivalent knowledge can still be proven by certification of a state or university examination by the time of re-registration for the third semester at the latest.
Special admission requirements for the "HamBord" course: Proof of language skills in French by means of a B2 certificate (CEFR) or an officially certified copy of the certificate if French was taken as an advanced course or as a basic course examination subject in the Abitur examination and this is evident from the Abitur certificate, or equivalent.
