The subjects must have already been studied in the bachelor’s degree in teaching at grammar schools, since the Master of Education (teaching degree at grammar schools) builds on a completed bachelor’s degree in KMK type 4 teaching.


The aim of the course is to become a teacher – with a specialization in teaching at grammar schools or district schools (or comprehensive schools). Before this can be exercised, the preparatory service must be completed, which lasts 18 months in Hamburg and ends with the state examination.
