Mathematics and physics are closely linked: on the one hand, mathematics provides the methods for researching physical questions, on the other hand, the increasingly complex theories of physics - for example in quantum mechanics or string theory - have an enormous influence on the development of new mathematical theories. The internationally oriented master’s program in Mathematical Physics offers an interdisciplinary course in which students can expand their mathematical skills and knowledge and work in a research team. The study can be focused on either the mathematical or the physical aspects. The English-language course is offered jointly by the mathematics and physics departments.
