The bachelor's degree in Classical Archeology deals with the ancient cultures of the Mediterranean region as part of history and cultural studies. The focus is on Greek and Roman culture, for which research is available in addition to archaeological finds and findings, as well as written source material, as well as their contacts with predecessor and neighboring cultures. Methodologically, the subject forms an interface between general archaeological, historical, cultural and art scientific approaches.

The aim of the bachelor's degree is to impart basic technical and methodological skills for the (re)construction of ancient living environments on the basis of archaeological monuments and findings. Research into antiquity helps to develop a critical awareness of the historical foundations of cultures and to reflect on current socio-cultural contexts in their historical dimension.
