The Sign Language Interpreting master's degree program serves to qualify sign language interpreters for the fields of court interpreting and conference interpreting. The course takes into account the high and growing expectations placed on the profession. Both the necessary working techniques and the theoretical basics are acquired during the course. On the basis of an examination of the specific language use in court, the processes involved in investigations and the linguistic characteristics of specialist lectures in both working languages, the practical interpreting skills for use in court and at conferences are acquired. The profile area opens up the possibility of gaining personal research experience in this still young discipline.
The degree program is designed to be part-time with a standard period of study of six semesters, ie only 20 CP must be attended per semester (instead of 30 CP as in the four-semester master's degree programs).
