Due to the increasing religious and cultural pluralization of our society, the demand for interreligious dialogue skills as well as for skills in communication between religiously and non-religiously oriented groups is increasing in numerous professional fields. The Master's degree in "Religions, Dialogue and Education" aims to impart communicative and analytical skills aimed at interreligious dialogue. Students acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of interreligious communication, which are increasingly required to work or conduct research in multireligious contexts.
The aim of the master's program "Religions, Dialogue and Education" is to get to know different religions - Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism and Alevism - in historical, regional, intellectual history and political plurality and to integrate this knowledge into the practice of intercultural communication. The focus of the compulsory courses will initially be Islam for all students.
The MA "Religions, Dialogue and Education" is based at the Academy of World Religions at the University of Hamburg. The faculty for educational science is in charge, but the faculties for humanities and economics and social sciences, which are represented in the Joint Commission of the Academy of World Religions, are also involved. With the possible interdisciplinary, interreligious and interdenominational orientation, the master's program is unique in the Federal Republic of Germany.
