In the age of globalization, cultural and linguistic diversity is an integral part of everyday life in metropolises. Concepts for dealing with the linguistic complexity of these metropolises are among the greatest challenges of the 21st century - which the master's program "Multilingualism and Education - MOTION: Multilingual Educational Linguistics" also deals with intensively and scientifically. The long tradition of multilingualism research at Universität Hamburg makes it possible to study at the cutting edge of current research. It is a joint degree program of the Faculty of Education (EW) and the Departments of Language, Literature and Media (SLM) of the Faculty of Humanities.
The students acquire the ability to work independently with scientific methods and findings and to apply their knowledge and problem-solving skills in new and unfamiliar interdisciplinary contexts of linguistic and educational issues related to multilingualism. At the same time, in practice-oriented modules, the students gain direct insights into multilingual situations and problem areas in educational institutions and public institutions.
