The English-language Master's program in Wood Science will be introduced in winter semester 2019/20. The consecutive, research-oriented course builds on fundamental knowledge of lignocellulose-based bioresources and their possible uses.


It deepens the students' abilities to independently apply wood-specific knowledge, to work independently according to scientific principles while adhering to scientific methods and to responsibly classify their knowledge in social contexts.


The Master's program also teaches students successful development in terms of cooperation, delegation and leadership with sufficient structuring and decision-making skills. This enables graduates to take on managerial tasks in business and research and to further develop themselves and the respective area of ​​responsibility.


The MSc Wood Science course also offers graduates of other related BSc courses the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and specialize in the wood industry.

  • Graduated from the consecutive bachelor’s degree in wood management or use of bioresources at the University of Hamburg or
  • Degree in another bachelor’s degree in which comparable coursework was completed with the consecutive bachelor’s degree in Bioresources Use (minimum number of comparable credits).
