The master's program "Ethnolinguistics of Endangered Languages - Uralic Languages and Cultures" (Uralic Studies) imparts comprehensive knowledge of the Finno-Ugric languages and literatures as well as the respective historical and socio-cultural context. In addition to the "major" languages of Estonian, Finnish and Hungarian, the course also addresses the "minor" languages that are mainly spoken in the Russian Federation.
In the course of their studies, students can choose a profile area to either specialize in describing the cultures of the Uralic peoples or focus on the diverse manifestations of the Uralic languages in Europe and Asia, some of which are threatened with extinction. As part of the course, there is the opportunity to deepen one's studies at a partner university in another European country (e.g. Tartu, Jyväskylä, Debrecen, Vienna, Padua, Paris, Budapest or Szeged).
