The Master's degree in Slavic Studies offers students the opportunity to study two Slavic languages or literatures from either a linguistic or a literary perspective. Russian, Polish, Serbo-Croatian or Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and Czech can be selected as languages. The first language must already be mastered, the second language can be learned during the course of study (or existing knowledge can be deepened).
Central subjects of Slavic linguistics are the analysis of structures and functions of the chosen Slavic languages in both their oral and written forms. Approaches from general linguistics and cognitive science are also taken into account.
One focus of Slavic literary studies is the ability to analyze texts with sound methodological knowledge and to interpret them in their historical, political-social and aesthetic context.
As part of the course, special emphasis is placed on acquiring presentation techniques and rhetorical skills in order to be able to present one's own work results appropriately. As part of the course, there is the opportunity to take part in an exchange program with the universities in St. Petersburg, Belgrade, Zagreb, Prague or Warsaw.
