The Master’s degree in “Interdisciplinary Public and Non-profit Studies” deals with the business, economic, political, legal and sociological challenges and special features in the public and nonprofit sector. The main focus here is on the interactions between the various areas, which is why the course is characterized by a highly interdisciplinary curriculum. He gives an insight into the research activities in the public and non-profit sector as well as into practice. Among other things, the course leads to contributions to the following global goals:
  • Education of responsible people the development of professional competence, the ability to judge and the ability for argumentative understanding on a scientific basis
  • Promotion of young scientists in the field of public and/or non-profit research

After completing the course, graduates are able to understand complex, interdisciplinary issues in the public and nonprofit sector and to develop approaches to solving them, as well as independently planning and implementing theory-based empirical research projects and interpreting their results.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements to be admitted to the Master's course:
  • a first professionally qualifying university degree in a bachelor's degree in social economics (BA) from the University of Hamburg or in a comparable interdisciplinary socio-economic degree or in business administration, political science, law, social sciences, sociology, economics or economics, in exceptional cases also degrees in other courses on which the MA builds meaningfully can
  • knowledge of English
