The degree in Romance Linguistics imparts comprehensive knowledge in the field of analysis and description of two Romance languages ​​each (choice of: French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Catalan), their structures and functions. The areas of language acquisition research, language teaching research, cognitive linguistics, contact linguistics, language typology, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, language psychology, empirical linguistics and media linguistics are given special consideration. There is the possibility of individual specialization in the areas of "Structure of the Romance Languages" (more theoretically oriented) or "Language Development and Language Variation" (more empirically oriented).
The course is rounded off by a practical language training program. In the research area, students benefit from participation in the faculty's "Multilingualism" focus area. There are also various exchange programs, including with the universities of Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Lyon, Bordeaux, Pisa, Rome and Mexico City.

  • a first professional university degree from a German or recognized foreign university in the subjects of Romance linguistics (French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan, Romanian)
  • or a defined number of credit points in one of the subjects mentioned.
