The postgraduate degree in socio-medical sciences at the master's level arises from the need to continue strengthening the dialogue between the Health Sciences and the Social Sciences and Humanities, promoting the production of scientific and humanistic knowledge in the area of ​​health with a socio-economic approach. -cultural.
The Master's degree offers a space to problematize, from a critical perspective, issues linked to medical practice, the culture of health, the health-disease-care process, medical models, medical education, community health, gender and health., as well as reflecting on public health policies, the institutions that promote primary health care, as well as the contexts that favor the emergence of diseases, through qualitative and quantitative studies, taking into account micro, meso and macro sociological approaches.
The postgraduate course is developed in a school-based manner, during the first half, the effort is concentrated on establishing the theoretical-methodological bases of the research work to be carried out and the second part focuses individually and collaboratively on data collection, systematization and analysis., in order to present an article for publication and conclude the reception thesis to obtain the degree; At the discretion of the Academic Committee, the student may carry out mobility activities.

Admission Requirements

  • The bachelor's degree or degree certificate in Health or Social Sciences and Humanities, issued by a recognized higher education institution.
  • Accredit one year of work experience in professional practice.
  • Demonstrate current activity in one of the following fields: teaching, research or operational.
  • General undergraduate average equal to or greater than 80.
  • Accredit reading and understanding of the English language by the suitable means established by the Academic Board of the program, or of Spanish in the case of non-Spanish-speaking candidates.
  • Minimum availability of 40 hours-week to dedicate to the master's program (endorsed in letters of reasons and recommendations of the applicant). 
  • Have passed the propaedeutic course in socio-medical sciences.
  • Submit a preliminary research project according to the postgraduate lines.
  • Submit a document explaining the reasons why you want to enter the program.
