Admission Requirements

  • Have a bachelor's degree or equivalent abroad (Bachelor, Magister Artium, 1. Staatsexamen, Lehramt ) in the areas of German as a foreign language, German letters, German Studies, linguistics, foreign language teaching, literature and/or related areas.
  • Both academic boards of the binational master's program decide on the correspondence of a certain degree.
  • The general average in undergraduate and/or equivalent studies should not be less than 80. For candidates who have not completed their studies at a Mexican university, at least the equivalent global grade will be accepted in the grading system of the corresponding country.
  • Proof of knowledge of Spanish and/or German. In German level B2 is required, in Spanish level B2 (reading-comprehension) and B1 (other skills) according to the determinations of the common European framework of reference for languages.
  • Verify specific training, voluntary internships or equivalent that are related to the study areas of the study program.
  • For students starting their studies at the University of Leipzig: Take an entrance exam (“Academic Aptitude Test”). For students beginning their studies at the University of Guadalajara, the exams established and permitted by the general postgraduate regulations, as well as those agreed by the program's Academic Board, will be applied. The University of Guadalajara and the University of Leipzig will inform each other about the results of the exams in Leipzig and in Guadalajara. The procedure adheres to the regulations of each university.
